====== Eridani Systems, Inc. ======
Eridani Systems, Inc., also known as ESI or Eridani, is a major megacorporation active from the Colonisation Era onwards. Its name is taken from its main headquarters in the [[Epsilon Eridani]] system.

===== Colonisation Era =====
ESI was part of the early boom of corporate space exploration. Alongside its rival, [[Anaplian Cybertechnologies]], ESI founded some of the first permanent extrasolar colonies.

Under UN rules, megacorporations were required to fully provide for their employees. With early colonies being separated by years of sublight travel time, this led to essentially "company states" being set up, with all services being directly provided by the corporation (or its specialised subsidiaries) under the supervision of UN inspectors. These corporate systems existed alongside government-controlled systems until the development of jump drive made a more unified interstellar government possible. During this time, megacorporations operated their own minor navies and armed forces, and competitors sometimes took military action against each other.

During the later years of the Colonisation Era, UN services were expanded and megacorporations like ESI played a reduced role in providing accommodation and civil support. However, the concept of the mutually beneficial relationship between megacorporation and employees remained entrenched in the culture of the modern megacorp.

===== League Era =====
After Reunion Day, the new [[Galactic Defense League]] government heavily reduced the social security system that had operated under the UN, and directed the most lucrative industrial contracts to state enterprises benefitting senior League officials. Faced with this hardship, the workers at many megacorps chose to revive the earlier system of corporate services to maintain a reasonable standard of living.

ESI in particular took a leading role in expanding corporate presence beyond the reach of the League. Many workers recognised the unpleasant nature of the GDL, and ESI facilities in independent parts of [[Andromeda]] and the [[Sagittarius Frontier]] played a major part in the construction of what would become the [[Andromeda Alliance]] Fleet.

===== War Era =====
In order to avoid placing its workers and operations inside League space in danger, ESI did not officially side with the Andromeda Alliance during the War of 4404. However, clandestine support continued throughout the war, and facilities outside of GDL space were committed to the war effort.

After the end of the War, ESI remains a major player in the [[Core Governance]] economy.

===== Products =====

ESI subsidiaries are responsible for producing a vast array of items, many of which are also used in other Eridani products. The corporation is most notably associated with high-tech items such as spacecraft components, high-energy weapons, and cybersphere technologies.

===== Eridani Race Team =====

ESI operates a racing division, running self-manufactured vehicles in a number of high-level racing series. Thanks to the company's extensive experience with advanced flight systems, Eridani Race Team is considered a top-tier team in most series it runs in, including [[Formula Galaxy]], Interstellar Aero Rally, and Interstellar Fusion Rally. ESI also supports several customer teams in lower-level series.

[[Aruj Schader Adani]] drove for ERT in Formula Galaxy in the late 4000s.
