Farando is a habitable planet in the Rookwood system. It is the location of several archaeological sites believed to belong to the culture responsible for the Petraev Machines, including the compound containing Vertice Revision.

The dominant biome is a dense yellow-tinged jungle, teeming with small life. In the southern regions, however, the jungle peters out to reveal rising steppes that lead into several towering mountain ranges.

The Petraev Culture remains on Farando drew immediate attention, and a permanent settlement was soon established to study them. Because of the significance of the finds, restrictions were placed on resource exploitation and mining. However, residential construction is allowed in surveyed areas, and there is some trade in certain flora and fauna native to the planet which are desirable for culinary and aesthetic reasons.

In late 4404, Farando was the site of a skirmish between the Andromeda Alliance and the Galactic Defense League. The fighting was unexpectedly halted when Vertice Revision was unexpectedly activated. The device's effects caused chaos among both sides. Ultimately, the commanders on each side agreed to respect an exclusion zone around Farando to avoid further incidents that could destabilise the planet.
