The Expedition Ship is a class of very large transdimensional starship constructed between the War Era and the Quiet Era.

Expedition Ships were designed to explore alternate universes. They were fitted with powerful D-jump drives and the most advanced AI minds. Their organic crews were selected from the best and most curious researchers and adventurers of the age. Operating from the colossal Eyrie Station, Expedition Ships flew to the far corners of the multiverse and brought back incredible and intriguing stories.

Over the course of their missions, Expedition Ships were expected to find and integrate advanced technology from the universes they travelled through. Discoveries made in this way provided huge advances in technological understanding and helped pave the way for the Upload, the mass conversion of galactic society to a non-corporeal state.

After the Upload, Expedition Ships acted as the eyes and ears - and occasionally hands - of the new collective consciousness, seeking out new information and experiences to bring into the new world.
