The Sohran Republic is a galactic state active in the Quiet Era. Its territory is primarily located in the Cygnus and Hammer's Edge regions.

Some humans have always been driven to build higher, build bigger, build further. The desire to leave the largest mark possible on the landscape seems to be a deeply-rooted urge somewhere in the mind. Those who let this desire guide them built the first Dyson Sphere in the Q Cygni system, and it is their descendants who built the Sohran Republic.

The unifying mandate of the Republic is simple: we come together to build. Although many citizens live the same sort of everyday life as anyone else in the Quiet Era, there is also a constant, state-wide construction initiative, dedicated to building new megastructures. The colossal works of the Republic are a great source of pride and are spoken of throughout inhabited space, and yet, there is always someone who wants to build something bigger…and the government is happy to help.

Some speak of the day when the Republic's structures will grow so huge, so interconnected and complex that they fill the very void between the stars. Such a day must be very, very far away, though.

The Sohran Republic maintains generally peaceful relations with its neighbours, although there is an element of mutual distrust with the Blue Empire, after some historical expansion attempts by the latter. In the wider galaxy, the World Listeners dislike the Republic, fearing that its works will block or drown out the natural sound of the cosmos.
