Verris
Verris is a planet in the E Camina system.
The planet is hot and wet, with jungle covering most of the surface. Gravity is approximately 95% of Earth standard, and the atmosphere is breathable for humans.
Edge of the World
The Edge of the World, officially the Kubo Divide, is an anomalous tectonic formation on Verris. Approximately 1/3 of Verris' surface is a single crust plate that towers almost 4km above the rest of the surface. While the lower regions are a dense, fog-shrouded primordial jungle, the Kubo Plateau rises above the mist and flourishes in the sunlight. The planet is home to three almost completely separate ecosystems - the Kubo Plateau forest, the jungle below, and the hardy flora and fauna that clings to the vertical cliffs of the Edge of the World. Between these three environments, Verris has a rich, diverse biosphere with one of the highest species counts in the known galaxy.
Verris is a relatively recently-discovered world, and so enjoys robust protections against colonisation and resource exploitation. There are a limited number of settlements, primarily around the edges of the plateau where some clear ground can be found to build without disturbing the forest. One such settlement is Plenty's Zambian Restaurant, which houses the family of O. T. Plenty and serves Zambian food, adapted to local ingredients, to tourists, researchers, and explorers. It's not the most popular restaurant in the galaxy, but the stunning views and good food keep it in business.
Like most of the outposts on the Edge of the World, Plenty's is accessible by a small landing pad overhanging the edge. This design allows small spacecraft and aircraft to land without danger to the forest, as well as offering space for larger ships to hover without requiring a full-size spaceport.
