Cayd Huskarls are a type of Automatics used by the Caydlaw in the Quiet Era.

Huskarls are built to a standard pattern - a two-metre-tall humanoid with four arms, styled with polished steel-and-brass armour, a winged helmet, and a red cloak. They are equipped with a variety of sensors, and can operate either autonomously or as a sub-unit of a full AI.

Although they have many duties other than combat, Huskarls typically carry a gun and blade. They are also often seen carrying longer glaives, usually for ceremonial purposes, and tall shields. Additionally, they have built-in maneuvering thrusters, and high-tensile grappling cables suitable for a variety of purposes.

Huskarls are deployed as agents of Cayd state entities - station and city AIs, and ships of the fleet. They act as public services, assist citizens with everyday issues, carry out maintenance, and so on. They are also used as soldiers and enforcers as required. Although their behaviour can vary somewhat when their controlling AI is directly puppeteering them, they are otherwise universally polite and follow a standard code of manners.
