Yan Sumar is a single white star in the Landfall region. It has five major planets and 376 minor bodies.

The system was one of the early human colonies in Andromeda, and was part of the Andromeda Alliance. Like most of the first Andromeda colonies, the system was chosen for its habitability, and it went on to become a major population centre.

In the Quiet Era, Yan Sumar lies on the border of the Caydlaw and the territory of the New Kings of Andromeda. Because of its important place in the history of Andromeda, the New Kings covet it, and it has changed hands several times over the centuries, occasionally by force.
